Wife overjoyed – Steel worker exposed to excessive noise, hears again!

Colin Little a retired steel worker from Rotherham is the lucky recipient of a pair of hearing aids from the National Campaign for Better Hearing, whose mission is to raise awareness of the importance of regular hearing tests.

Colin initially damaged his hearing working near noisy electric furnaces in the steel works without wearing any hearing protection.  He’s experienced further deterioration, and typically has left it 10 years before getting help.   All too aware now that he’s missing out on the jokes and it’s putting a strain on his marriage.

In the end it was his wife fed up with constantly repeating things and being ignored also noticed that he was exhausted at the end of the day and just want to be in his own world – that decided enough was enough.

She took charge and booked him a hearing tests at the Sheffield Hidden Hearing Centre

Audiologist from Hidden Hearing centre, Stephanie Lakin who tested and nominated Colin says, ‘Colin is such a worthy recipient of this award.  His hearing was affecting his relationships and causing him to withdraw from his world.

Colin says, ‘This is absolutely brilliant.. I never win anything, so good to feel my luck’s changed!
