Mother and daughter from Shrewsbury have lives changed by hearing aids

Both Gillian, and her daughter Rose, suffer with a genetic low frequency hearing loss and despite numerous attempts over the past 20 years neither have been able to find an NHS hearing aid which suits them. Both mother and daughter had been left doubtful that they would ever hear better.

After a brief chat with our Shrewbury branch staff, Rose decided to book an appointment. After an overwhelming response to a set of OPN 3 Mini Rite hearing aids, mother and daughter put their money together in order to give Rose the chance at a better life she needed. Upon seeing both the incredible impact of the hearing aids on Rose and the kindness and selflessness of Gillian, Hearing Aid Audiologist Amy Malone nominated Gillian for the Give Back Campaign.

Gillian says ‘It was always so difficult to hear groups as the conversations were always bouncing around.  I had to look at people, focus on the noise and allow time to process it, I found it exhausting and it was hard to join in.’

‘Once the hearing aids were fitted, it was just an unbelievable feeling. I could hear even the smallest things like the rustling of clothes and my own breath, all at the right levels – I had never experienced that before in my life.  I could have cried!  I’d given up being able to hear.’
